Amen * Indicates points in the service when we stand in body or spirit Announcements Prelude Fantasy on “Mit Freuden zart” Arr. Richard Williamson With Tender Joy Welcome *Introit For the Beauty of the Earth (vs. 1 & 2) B. #28 For the beauty of the earth, for the splendor of the skies, For the love which from our birth over and around us lies, God of all, to you we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. For the wonder of each hour of the day and of the night, Hill and vale, and tree and flower, sun and moon, and stars of light, God of all, to you we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. Call to Worship One: Praise the Divine whose splendor is woven into all the earth. All: What wonders surround us! We linger in awe and appreciation. One: The beauty of the earth is a balm to the senses. All: Creation overflows with wisdom, ancient and new. One: The world, wild with creative energy, is adaptive through challenges and change. All: Precious is each creature! Every living thing, beloved and valued. One: In holy defiance of all that spoils life through shame and destruction, we remember and proclaim together the truth from which we come and by which we hope to live: All: “God saw everything that was created and indeed, it was very good.” *Passing of the Peace (ASL) and lighting Peace & Justice Candle *Hymn I Sing the Mighty Power of God R. #57 I sing the mighty power of God that made the mountains rise, that spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day; the moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey. I sing the goodness of our God that filled the earth with food; and formed us from the lowly sod and then pronounced us good. O how your wonders are displayed where’er I turn my eye: if I survey the ground I tread or gaze upon the sky! There’s not a plant or flower below but makes your glories known; and clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from your throne, while all that borrows life from you is ever in your care. Where’er I go, what’er I do, I find you present there. *Invocation (spoken in unison) Sing into our ears, O Spirit, the holy word of life. Tell us who we are and to whom we belong so that we may live with gratitude for all that you have done. Amen Children’s Message Christian Scriptures Genesis 1:1-2:4 Special Music Christe Sanctorum Arr. David Cherwien Message Rev. TJ Mack *Hymn Holy, Holy, Holy B. #277 Holy, holy, holy, God the Almighty! Early in the morning we praise your majesty. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty! God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Holy, holy, holy! Saints adore you truly, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea: Cherubim and seraphim bow before you only, From the beginning, God eternally. Holy, holy, holy! Though we know but dimly, Though the eyes of humankind your glory may not see, You alone are holy, you alone are worthy, Perfect in power, in love and purity. Holy, holy, holy, God the Almighty! All your works shall praise your name in earth and sky and sea. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty! God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Prayers of the People – Sharing Joys & Concerns Our Father (Creator, Mother) who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen Lead me Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou Lord, thou Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety. Invitation to OfferingGod has blessed us beyond measure and our own generosity is an opportunity to use a portion of our blessings to minister to others. Offertory Offertory on Bryn Calfaria Owen/ Landin *The Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God for all that love has done; Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One. Amen *Prayer of Dedication (spoken in unison) We offer these gifts to the God of all people. May these gifts be blessed and used to provide ministry for those who are too often forgotten in our society. Let the generosity represented here be magnified and amplified to stretch beyond our imaginations. Amen *Communion Hymn As We Gather at Your Table B. #332 As we gather at your table, as we listen to your word, help us know, O God, your presence; let our hearts and minds be stirred. Nourish us with sacred story till we claim it as our own; teach us through this holy banquet how to make Love's victory known. Turn our worship into witness in the sacrament of life; send us forth to love and serve you, bringing peace where there is strife. Give us, Christ, your great compassion to forgive as you forgave; may we still behold your image in the world you died to save. Gracious Spirit, help us summon other guests to share that feast where triumphant Love will welcome those who had been last and least. There no more will envy blind us nor will pride our peace destroy, as we join with saints and angels to repeat the sounding joy. Communion Liturgy One: It is right, and a good and joyful thing always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth. At the beginning of time, your Spirit moved upon the waters of chaos as you called forth land and sea, mountain and valley, desert and tundra, jungle and grassy plain. Your Spirit went before Moses and the Hebrew children, a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, leading them through the wilderness. Your Spirit roused the hearts of the prophets who proclaimed your judgment upon the nations and called for repentance among your people. For these mighty acts of your Holy Spirit, we praise your name and join in the eternal hymn of all the angels and saints who sing: All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed are they who come in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. One: Holy are you, indeed, and blessed is Jesus Christ. By your Spirit you anointed him to bring good news to the poor and to proclaim release to the captives. By your Spirit, Jesus confronted the demons of oppression. In your Spirit he rejoiced as his disciples did great work in his name. At his death on the cross Jesus yielded up his spirit to you, and by the Holy Spirit you raised him from the dead. This same enlightening, empowering, enlivening Spirit Jesus promised to all who keep his commandment to love as he has loved. All: On the night he was betrayed he took bread, gave thanks to You, broke the bread, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat, this is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. When the supper was over, he took the cup and gave thanks, saying, Drink this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in remembrance of me. One: Therefore, in remembrance of the mighty acts and blessed promises of Jesus, we offer ourselves to you in union with his offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith: All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. Send your Holy Spirit upon us, gathered here out of love for you, and on this bread and wine. Let the bread we break be true fellowship in the body of Christ. Sharing the Elements Leader: The gifts of God for the people of God. Come, for all things are ready. Leader: The bread of life. All: Amen Leader: The cup of joy. All: Amen Prayer of Thanksgiving All: Bountiful God, we give you thanks that you have fed us at your table. Strengthen our faith, increase our love for one another, and send us forth into the world in courage and peace, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen *Sung Blessing Sent Forth by God's Blessing tune: Ash Grove Sent forth by God's blessing, our true faith confessing, the people of God from this dwelling take leave. The service is ended, O now be extended the fruits of our worship in all who believe. The seed of the teaching, receptive hearts reaching, Shall blossom in action for God and for all. God's grace did invite us, and love shall unite us To work for God's realm and to answer the call. *Benediction The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.
