Silent Prayer

Oh, if we could halt the wheel of destruction to our Earth home! If we could dream back the species who have lost their ecosystems. If we could breathe-awake beloveds killed by state sanctioned violence. Instead of bombs, tenderness! Instead of prisons, wide open meadows! Instead of islands of trash, coral reefs! Swords into plowshares, we cry! Awaken within us our invitation for this day, Holy Wisdom, that we might understand our part in the long arc

towards justice. Ground us in determined hope. Amen

Announcements

Prelude Built on a Rock Kirken Lederman/ Martin

Welcome

Introit Arise, Your Light is Come! R #167

Arise, your light is come! The Spirit’s call obey;

Show forth the glory of your God which shines on you today.

*Call to Worship

Leader: When we are unsure of where to go,

All: we turn to you, God of Clarity, for guidance.

Leader: When we feel stuck in between this and that,

All: we wait for your nudge, Gentle Christ.

Leader: When we are overwhelmed by the enormity of the work ahead,

All: You, Wise Spirit, reveal the next stepping stone.

Leader: Meet us in this place, Discerning God.

All: We come to meet with You.

*Passing of the Peace (ASL) Lighting of the Peace Candle & Prayer for Peace & Justice

When the morning stars together their creator's glory sang, and the angel host all shouted till with joy the heavens rang, then your wisdom and your greatness their exultant music told, all the beauty and the splendor which your mighty works unfold.

Lord, we bring our gift of music; touch our lips and fire our hearts, teach our minds and train our senses, fit us for this sacred art. Then with skill and consecration we would serve you, Lord, and give all our powers to glorify you, and in serving fully live.

*Invocation (spoken in unison)

God of the earthquake and the silence, quiet in us any voice but your own, that by the power of the Holy Spirit we might hear, and in hearing we might believe, and in believing we might act, making way for your new creation. Amen

Children’s Message

Old Testament Reading Isaiah 65:17-25

New Testament Reading Luke 21:5-19

Special Music Gracious Spirit Dwell With Me arr. Lee Scott

Message

O for a world where everyone respects each other’s ways, where love is lived and all is done with justice and with praise.

O for a world where goods are shared and misery relieved, where truth is spoken, children spared, equality achieved.

We welcome one world family and struggle with each choice that opens us to unity and gives our vision voice.

The poor are rich, the weak are strong, the foolish ones are wise. Tell all who mourn; outcasts belong, who perishes will rise.

O for a world preparing for God’s glorious reign of peace, where time and tears will be no more, and all but love will cease.

Prayers of the People – Sharing Joys & Concerns

Lead me Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face.

For it is thou Lord, thou Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety.

Invitation to Offering – In a world filled with blessings we celebrate our privilege and our responsibility to share those blessings. Let us celebrate the God of overwhelming blessings

by continuing our worship through the offering of our tithes and gifts.

Offertory Let All Things Now Living Welsh Folk Tune/ G. Martin

*The Doxology

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below;

Praise God for all that love has done; Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One. Amen

*Prayer of Dedication (spoken in unison)

God of the wolf and the lamb, the lion and the ox, we give thanks for these gifts and pray they might be agents of your peace. May they serve your creation as we seek your new heaven and new earth. Amen

Thank Our God for sisters, brothers, one by grace, in harmony,

Joining heart to heart with others, making strong community.

With the cross of Christ our standard, let us sing as with one voice,

Glory, glory, yours the promise: we who are the church rejoice.

Praise to God for congregations, keeping faith with Christ as guide; Many tongues of many nations, song and service unified.

Sweet the psalm and sweet the carol, when our song is raised as one. Glory, glory, yours the power, as in heaven your will be done.

Holy is your name forever! Heal divisions that remain;

Bless the church’s new endeavors; make our witness one again.

One in Christ and in Christ’s gospel, make us one we now implore.

Glory, glory, yours the glory, then and now and evermore.

*Blessing

*Sung Benediction Go, My Children, with My Blessing (v. 2) B. #82

Go, my children, fed and nourished, closer to me;

Grow in love and love by serving, joyful and free.

Here my Spirit’s power filled you, here with tender comfort stilled you;

Go, my children, fed and nourished, joyful and free.
