Silent Prayer Beloveds, God’s teaching surrounds us. If we wish to know love, to understand justice, or to embody wisdom we must only pay attention. The gospel is always coming alive somewhere. For every new way God reaches to us, takes on flesh and manifests within and around, let us be open-minded, let us be grateful. Amen * Indicates points in the service when we stand in body or spirit Announcements Prelude Elegy on “Behold a Host” arr. Dale Wood Welcome *Introit God of Grace and God of Glory (vs. 1) R. #477 God of grace and God of glory, on your people pour your power; now fulfill your Church’s story; bring its bud to glorious flower. Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, for the facing of this hour, for the facing of this hour. *Call to Worship All that was, all that is, all that ever will be, dwells in the life of God. We are inseparable from generations past and generations future. The lives of the ones who came before us are present all around us. The needs of those to come call upon us today. What are we doing with all we have inherited - the wonderful and the terrible? What will we leave behind? May God’s blessing be upon us as we strive to live faithfully in the days we have been given. *Passing of the Peace (ASL) and lighting Peace & Justice Candle *Hymn God of the Sparrow God of the Whale R. # 98 God of the sparrow God of the whale God of the swirling stars How does the creature say Awe How does the creature say Praise God of the earthquake God of the storm God of the trumpet blast How does the creature cry Woe How does the creature cry Save God of the rainbow God of the cross God of the empty grave How does the creature say Grace How does the creature say Thanks God of the hungry God of the sick God of the prodigal How does the creature say Care How does the creature say Life God of the neighbor God of the foe God of the pruning hook How does the creature say Love How does the creature say Peace God of the ages God near at hand God of the loving heart How do your children say Joy How do your children say Home *Invocation (in unison) Eternal Wisdom, in the midst of all of life’s noise, we long to recognize your voice. Where we have been led astray by the loudest and most visible, the power-hungry, and the greedy, you call us back. Back to your way that nourishes. Back to the dreams of your prophets. Back to what grounds and sustains. Today and always, may we be open to your Spirit whose truth leads us home. Amen Children’s Message Roll Call of Saints Hebrew Scripture s Psalm 1 Christian Scripture Matthew 22:34-46 Special Music This Is The Day 84 Black Hymnal Les Garrett Message Rev. TJ Mack *Hymn We Walk by Faith and Not by Sight R. #424 We walk by faith and not by sight; no gracious words we hear from Christ who spoke as none e'er spoke, who still we know is near. We may not touch Christ’s hands and side, nor follow where Christ trod; but in confessing we rejoice: our Savior and our God! Help then, O Christ, our unbelief; and may our faith abound to call on you when you are near and seek where you are found. That, when our life of faith is done, in realms of clearer light, we may behold you as you are, with full and endless sight. Prayers of the People – Sharing Joys & Concerns Our Father (Creator, Mother) who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen Lead me Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou Lord, thou Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety. Invitation to Offering – B. #844 All good gifts around us come from you, O God. You have given us life, and new life in Christ. As you have given us gifts, so we offer our gifts, that we may be gifts to one another, as Jesus so taught and lived. Offertory Memorial Piece C.
